The return of a classic — reimagined. The Abel TR 2/3 stays true to the roots of the original click-pawl reel, but with a striking modern design and feel that only Abel can deliver. Rooted in the Abel lineage, the TR’s partial porting and inventive engineering make it unlike anything else on the water.
Crafted by expert machinists in Montrose, Colorado, the TR 2/3 is a lightweight masterpiece built for small stream and technical trout fishing. An integrated precision-balanced clicker on the spool eliminates the need for a counterweight — yielding a clean, uncluttered look while preserving the iconic click-pawl sound that Abel fans have loved for decades. The pronounced palming rim is deliberately shaped to let you manually feather drag pressure in any fishing condition, giving you total control when it matters most.
The large-arbor spool reduces line memory and increases retrieval rate, while machined stainless steel accents on both the frame and spool deliver that extra level of craftsmanship found only in an Abel reel. Inside the frame, milled silhouettes of a stonefly, caddis, and mayfly pay homage to the trout streams that inspired it.
