Sakura UD-Glass Fly Rod Blank | 7'11" 5wt 4pc
Cast with Intention. Build with Purpose.
The Sakura UD-Glass Fly Rod Blank by Tomo Ijuin is a masterwork in unidirectional fiberglass construction — designed for the rod builder who refuses to compromise. At 7'11" in a 5-weight, 4-piece configuration, this blank delivers a progressive parabolic action that loads deeply and recovers with a satisfying, rhythmic authority.
Progressive Parabolic Action — What It Means
Unlike fast-action blanks that load only at the tip, the Sakura bends evenly from butt to tip in a smooth, graduated arc. This isn't slow — it's deliberate. The medium-slow taper rewards precise timing and translates to delicate presentations on spring creeks, tailwaters, and technical dry-fly water.
The Sakura Story
In Japan, Sakura — the cherry blossom — is a symbol of renewal and the fleeting beauty of the present moment. Tomo Ijuin named this blank as an invitation: slow down, read the water, and cast with presence. Every blank carries that philosophy in its action.
